Peace and Playfulness
Audrey Green and Jeff Moe806 Kenmore Road
Set on a steep hillside plot of nearly two acres, the Green-Moe house is approached by a flagstone path and slate steps, leading to a courtyard with a Japanese maple, daphnes and an unusual and dramatic bridged “moat,” fed by a koi fountain. Whimsical wire deer welcome the visitor, the first of numerous sculptures including Balinese statues, a wild-haired woman, a tree with inset face. A jasmine-draped arch leads to the main hillside garden area, along a path bordered by pink and white azaleas. Other plants include cherry laurel, nandina, coral honeysuckle, and a Lady Banks rose covering a trellis. A series of terraces follows the hillside at the back of the house, one featuring a fountain-fed pool, others used as recreation areas. Many of these outdoor spaces are seen by the family as serving multiple functions, from play to vista-inspired meditation and renewal.
