Family Friendly Garden

Frances and Tom Gualtieri
825 Kenmore Road

Although shaded by trees on its periphery, this is not primarily a woodland garden but presents a more formal layout with distinctly separated areas, including a tennis court used as a children’s play area, and a raised-bed vegetable garden.  Late daffodils greet the approaching visitor; dogwoods overhang a fence whose wooden gate leads to a large open garden and lawn area in which winding gravel and flagstone paths punctuate and delineate herb and rose beds, and a central patio overlooking the garden.  Dogwoods, andromeda, azaleas, hostas, peonies and tulips give color and form.  Additional shelter is provided by a gazebo and a shaded bench.  A giant, colorful metal rooster watches over the garden, while a large bronze rhinoceros stands guard in a less formal setting.
