The Woodland Gardens of Lake Forest

Hand in Hand with Nature
When first developed in the 1940’s and 1950’s around the fifty acre Eastwood Lake in Chapel Hill, the Lake Forest neighborhood seemed far from the center of town. Today it still seems a world apart, offering a combination of rustic charm and sophisticated plantings. Wooded hills, lakefront views and winding streams provide a unified setting for a variety of homes and gardens. A strong sense of community is fostered by the Lake Forest Association of homeowners an
d the members of its Garden Club. Lake Forest in April is a miracle; flowering trees and shrubs are underplanted with bulbs, azaleas and other spring delights, the air is filled with birdsong, and the sound of flowing water.
The first garden on the Virtual Tour is the NC Botanical Garden, with its native plant collections and new green Visitor Education Center.
